Osho was a mystic, teacher and master. He established a community in Pune, India. He dedicated his life in to sharing his dynamic meditations and other teachings, including the ideal of "Zorba the Buddha", a man combining both spiritual pursuit and human enjoyment.
He have attained enlightenment at the age of twenty one. Osho discoursed at length on traditions like Vedanta, Sankhya, Yoga, Tantra, Sufi, Hasid, Tao, Baul and Zen. He also discussed masters like Krishna, Jesus, Buddha, Mahaveera, Shiva and Epicuros, he developed his unique dynamic meditation techniques to help mankind remove anxiety, stress and achieve more peaceful states of mind and a higher state of consciousness. A prolific speaker and writer, he left behind more than 600 books of his teachings as well as 112 meditation methods designed for the modern mankind.
Osho promoted a life based on awareness, love and responsibility. He interested Westerners especially because he discussed topics from Eastern and Western philosophical and spiritual traditions in a lighthearted way, making them easily accessible to everyone.
At his community in Pune, India, he encouraged people to meditate and to participate in therapy in order to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. This community exists today in Pune at the OSHO International Meditation Resort as well as in hundreds of resorts all over the world.
Osho’s discourses have been recorded in countless books which are sold all over the world in more than 180 languages.
